Lecture by Professor Pablo J. Boczkowski
Professor Pablo J. Boczkowski from Northwestern University, Illinois, USA will give a lecture at the Institute at 2 p.m. on 24 July 2019 (Room: 061). All are welcome.
Professor Boczkowski is well known for books such as The news gap, News at work, Digitizing the news, and Trump and the media.
In his talk, entitled "How people learn about current affairs in a world of information plenty", Professor Boczkowski will summarize the results of a study about how people experience and manage an information environment in which news is plenty, circulates rapidly, has been largely commoditized, and can hardly be avoided.
Drawing upon 158 interviews conducted between March 2016 and December 2017 in four cities in Argentina, and a survey of 700 adults administered in Buenos Aires and its suburbs in October 2016, the analysis shows that people enact a series of consumption routines that have devalued the news report in their everyday lives.
