Zusammenfassung
This study deals with the framing of migration and migrants, thus with issue framing and character framing. More specifically, we investigate how refugees and asylum seekers are framed in German television news (public vs. commercial). We develop and test three strategies to measure frame (in)congruity in audiovisual material. This project thus serves as a means of developing tools for audiovisual analysis while also offering insights into the framing of a contemporary news topic.
